More Neiman Marcus Windows

Well as promised, I want to finish sharing the windows of Neiman Marcus in downtown Dallas. As you saw in a previous post the theme is "Going Green" so, in some of the windows they used Christmas Cards to cover the walls & then they used the cards to make the clothes on the mannequins & the dogs in the window display. It is very different to see how they actually made darts in the bodice of a couple of the dresses. One is very modern or retro... (late 60's/70's) Enjoy & let me know what you think of this art.

Neiman Marcus Christmas Tree

Last week I worked downtown Dallas at the wonderful old Adolphus Hotel (more about that soon in another post). But, Friday night was the big festival to light the Christmas lights in downtown & to unveil the windows at Neiman Marcus. For those of you familar with Stanley Marcus & his empire... you know they always try to be ahead of the curve. Well this year I think they are a little over the top in strange! The theme is "Be Green". The window are done in different trees. The main window being TRASH! Yes, real live TRASH. Like smashed soft drink cans & other things we all throw into our trash cans. They have encased these items in large clear bubbles & have back lighting that changes colors. And then there was a tree made from rocks. Yes, big chunks of rocks all over a tree. No photo of that one. OK....... and then there was the pencil tree. A seven year old boy got the idea for this & they made the whole tree (at least 8 feet tall) out of #2 yellow pencils. On the top there are colored pencils as the star. OK GIRLS THIS IS ART! Or is it? Stay tuned for more windows done using Christmas cards as clothes on the models.

Veterans Day

Today I want to remember all the HEROS (dead & alive) that have served this country! I want to THANK EACH ONE OF THEM from the bottom of my heart for putting their country first & serving her with their life. I would hope that each of us feel this same way no matter what our view is of this war or any other. These brave young men & women have stepped up for us. We must thank them & their families for the bravery they face each day. When I work out at the airport I never let a soldier pass that I say "Thank you for what you do for us each day". That comment is met with many different reactions. Some, with pride & a smile say "thank you MS", others are shy & embarresed but still pleased, others shocked. I want to let each of them know how special they are. Thank a soldier when you see him. Thank his family if you know one.

There's nothing more handsome than a man in his uniform. I would have liked to share a photo of my sweet husband in his uniform but, the time looking for that would be untold. And of my son in his... the same problem plagues me where did I put those photos oh so safely hidden????? I did find a photo of my sweet Daddy (OH HOW I MISS YOU EVERY DAY!) in his uniform to share with you. He wore it so proudly. And on the day we laid him to rest, the shots of the military gun salute shattered the silence on that snowy quiet hillside. Just as the loss of him shattered my heart. But, he was so proud of his service to his country & of his country even fifty years after the war. Remember our Veterans new & old. I am SORRY that I don't know how to re-size this photo that I scanned into my computer. This just shows me how much I need my new Photo Shop Elements Program installed. But, I love the photo & my Daddy more than I HATE the big white blob next to it.

Fall Days & Colors

Saturday was play day for sweetie & I. We have both been working so much that we decided to take the day for us. We started out by going to eat at our favorite little 'burger shack" YUM YUM! And then we drove over to view the color & beauty at White Rock Lake. Had a nice drive & then walked over the bridge to watch all the playing & swimming at the Dog Park. Then we headed over to Farmers Market. The greenhouses were full of color & I found many flowers I wanted to take home but, contained myself best as I could, remembering I would have to plant them because the good fairies never show up after purchase. And then you can see that the white sacks are full from the fruit & veggie vendors. Fresh blueberries were made into to homemade blueberry pancakes Sunday morning. Fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, black berries, peaches & ruby red grapefruit. I loved the picture of the market with the back drop of downtown Dallas. It so speaks of our cities today. Enjoy these days of fall & all the colors they bring with them. View them as Art sent to us. Blessings given to be enjoyed. DO NOT pass by in a busy blurr without stopping to smell the flowers my friends.
