LOVED this huge Collage that was in their front window.
Joanna, Julie Anne & Sherry shopping in SCAD!
You know me & architecture.... LOVED this building.
Savannah was built one "Square" at a time. This is a typical example of one of these squares (this one happens to be across from SCAD). Yes, they would lay out a square, build homes around it & move on filling up a block or two & then another square. Each one a beautiful park like feeling & all have a statue or fountain in the center. HUGE trees are everywhere.
And it seemed every time I tried to get a photo of one of the amazing church steeples...trees got in the way but, there were some beauties all over town.
MAJOR SHOPPING stop # 1 Paris Market. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
Yep, I told you AMAZING. Don't you love the letters all lit on the back wall?
And how is this for a soda fountain? Wish the lighting was a tad bit better. Well, it seems I lost one full set of photos of some of the shop inventory in the upload process of Blogger so, that will be another day deary let's go down stairs & see what was there.
Cameras!!!!!!!! Lots of vintage camera's.
And here are six of our Belle's sorting through PILES of old photographs. There was plenty of cash dropped here I can tell you!
I LOVE BEE'S! Pictures of bees, thoughts & the sound of bees, honey, honeycombs... you get the idea. HOW CUTE IS THAT SIGN? A whole store of BEE GOODS!
Look at that adorable door. And click on the photo to enlarge it & check out the screen doors with the MANY different pieces cut & painted to create that cuteness! Precious!
And standing inside shooting a photo of the rows of honey in the beautiful jars (love all the different colors)you see the wonderful architecture across the street. See the dental molding painted white with the black & white eyebrows over the windows. This wonderful building was built in the 1800's.
More fountains down toward the river. The difference here was that the children were all playing in them. Complete with blow up beach balls they would run through the fountains laughing & playing. Oh the joys & innocence of childhood!
Standing on the sidewalk across the street from that fountain, this is the view of the hill going DOWN (steeply) to the river. Why so this driveway? It was built when early Savannah was built & these rocks were taken off the ships that sailed into port from England. The rocks were used as ballast for the ships. They were off loaded & then the cotton & other items purchased from the south were loaded & the ships would sail out of port sailing back to England. The clever early residents then used the stones for constructing many things in this area.
