Lake Ray Roberts Cools The Heat!

DSC04486

This past weekend Hubby & I tried to escape the heat with a quick trip to Lake Ray Roberts which is about an hour & half north of us. We took our friends Jerry & Ginger (the ones that share their pool with us as seen in previous post). We left about noon after Hubby had gone to see the oldest GRAND in a football scrimmage… (does anyone besides me think it insane that coaches take young athletes & put them through 2 a day training in DAYS OF 100 plus degree heat????) Oh well….OFF we go happy as larks to get away.

This photo of the trees along the path down to the lake says it all! The heat has taken it’s toll on everything!

Well, the boat wouldn’t start & we were all so frustrated. Hubby says she is going to the shop as he won’t have a boat (or anything else that won’t start when he turns the key). I bet she just needs a tune up but, still it was disappointing to not be out on the lake with wind in our hair.

But, I did want to share some of the beauty of the sunset over the water with you. Do you love a pretty sunset as much as I do? Does water soothe your soul like it does mine?

Do you wonder at the colors available in GOD’s Paint Box?

The place that we stayed was really pretty. It is located in a State Park. The name of the resort is Lantana & you can click on the name for the link to it.

A site with stunning views of the water, a great restaurant, nice rooms (rustic but, nice) & we really enjoyed our stay.

I took the photo above standing on the point of the patio (below) & it is such a beautiful place. We sat on the patio (just to the right of the photo below) & played cards until midnight.

What ran us off at midnight? The boys won the card game & a snake showed up for dinner on the patio (just like we did!). As we scurried off to our room we saw an armadillo (baby) over by our rooms. We also saw the young couple we had met down on the dock returning from fishing. And there was a couple our age that came to watch the meteor shower that was supposed to be taking place that night. So, see… many reasons to come to the lake & fun for all! Hope you enjoyed the photos & seeing how we are coping with this horrible heat. UPDATE: We did get one 10 hour period of rain on Friday night. It was a blessing indeed. Did it fix the draught? NO! Of course not but, it was a BEAUTIFUL site to behold. SEND US SOME MORE RAIN & COOLER TEMPS!

What a gorgeous lake and weekend getaway spot. There is nothing more beautiful than seeing the sun set on the water. So fun and relaxing looking. I think I would have taken off too after seeing night critters scurring about. Glad you had a wonderful weekend! XO,Jenn

Looks like you had a good time. Texas has some LARGE lakes. Funny how some people think it is just full of tumbleweeds and oil rigs.
(Now it is Starbucks and Gas wells!)

We have property on Lake Whitney (White Bluff)near Waco. Since we moved to Palm Desert we have to sell it. Know anyone who wants (almost) lake property for dirt cheap?

Remember the Bunny Hop linky is up and running every Tuesday night.

A pretty place to visit and try and cool off. You really need to come up here to cool down, nothing over 65 degrees.

Hi Charlene~ Your sunset & views of the water are beautiful! Water does soothe the soul~ what a gorgeous lake!

It's so frustrating when boats don't start or co-operate! We had muskrats that happily chewed thru our hydraulics TWICE~ a VERY expensive meal for them & us!

Hope you stay cool! Thanks for your visit & sweet comments :-)
